This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Even though Leather seems like a simple material that should be available in the first hours of gameplay, this is not the case. This material requires spending many hours in the game and making a lot of preparations, from hunting wild animals to collecting ores such as Salt and Resin. You will also need a specific tool, also known as a Loom. However, once you have completed all the preparations, creating Leather in Return to Moria will become commonplace. Well, we are here to guide you along this thorny path.

First of all, it’s worth briefly describing the steps required to create Leather in Return to Moria:

  • Get to the Lower Deeps and craft Loom.
  • Create Hide on the Loom.
  • Find and mine Salt.

To start, you should focus on the journey and the story game. The Lower Deeps is a dangerous and dark location accessible after Western Halls. Once you get through the rubble and find yourself in The Lower Deeps, you will see small mushrooms of different colors and shapes. Break a few of them and collect Ubasam Wood. Later, you will need a First Age Pickaxe, and you can craft it using Steel Ingots, a Block Diamond, and Ubasam Wood.

Now that you have a Pickaxe that matches the strength of the local rocks, you should find and collect some Silver. It will take some time, but once you do, you can create Loom using Silver and Ubasam Wood. Having placed Loom at your base, you are at the finish line because now all you have to do is collect the ingredients to create Leather:

  • x3 Salt. You can find this mineral in The Lower Deeps and mine it using First Age Pickaxe.
  • x1 Hide. To create a Hide, you must place 3 Hide Scraps and 3 Resin in Loom. You can get Hide Scraps by killing wild animals. To get Resin, look for petrified ore with solidified lava color at the level of The Lower Deeps.

Once you have collected all the materials, you only need to place them in Loom and wait until you get Leather. This material is a valuable late-game ingredient, but you have yet to discover the value of this resource.

To sum it up, here is what you need to know about how to get Leather in Return to Moria:

  • Head to The Lower Deeps.
  • Collect Silver and Ubasam Wood and create a Loom.
  • Create Hide and find Salt to craft Leather.
