Encountering Like Likes in Zelda means trouble; however, now it is an opportunity to get Like Like Stones in Tears of the Kingdom. Enemy drops used to be limited to Rupees and hearts. Since Breath of the Wild, foes now drop materials that can be used for trading, upgrading, and also cooking. One of the absentees in BotW was the Like Like, a creature that will swallow you whole, even stealing some of your items. They are back in TotK, and today we will encounter a bunch of them and learn where to find their main material—Like Like Stones.

Since Like Like Stones come from Like Likes, knowing where to find these hostile creatures is essential to acquiring their drops. You can find these all over Hyrule, but there is a guaranteed encounter in Great Sky Island at the beginning of the game. You can also find them in seldom caves around Hyrule. In order to get some Like Like Stones, you will have to first defeat the Like Likes themselves. There are several ways you can do this.

Firstly, you can go ahead and throw a Bomb Flower or any type of explosive toward the Like Like. It will swallow the bomb, and then it will expose its core while falling stunned. You will then have a chance to deal as much damage as possible to defeat and kill the Like Like. Depending on your damage output, Like Likes can be defeated in a single round of combat.

Secondly, and the easiest way of both, you will have to wait for the Like Like to expose its core. You will do this by approaching it and baiting the Like Like to uncover it. Once it does, shoot an arrow toward the core or hit it with your melee weapon. It all depends on the distance between you and the Like Like. Just like before, hit it with all you’ve got, and the Like Like will die eventually.

Once you defeat it, the Like Like will drop a strange round stone known as a Like Like Stone. If you are lucky, it will even drop some goods and even a treasure chest! Go ahead and collect all your rewards.

You can use Like Like Stones as Fuse materials to grant a +10 damage boost. If you add the Like Like Stone to a recipe, it will boost the duration of the recipe’s effect by a minute and 20 seconds. This property makes it a good ingredient for elixirs.

Now that you know how to defeat a Like Like and where to find Like Like Stones, go ahead and venture yourself to a memorable encounter. Just remember to keep your distance and shoot your arrow in time. Otherwise, the Like Like will swallow you whole.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Nintendo Switch.
