Knowing how to get more gear slots in any game is a very important thing, especially in Hogwarts Legacy where it can make a huge difference in your gaming experience. Throughout your time in the famous school of witchcraft and wizardry, you’ll be able to collect quite a bit of gear. However, at the beginning of the game, your inventory size is pretty limited, making it difficult to keep most of the gear you accumulate. Gear is important, as it can increase your combat abilities and make them much more efficient so you will want to hold as much as possible.

Hogwarts Legacy: How to Get More Gear Slots

You can only truly expand your Gear Slots in one way throughout the game. In order to do it, you must complete Merlin Trials, which are challenges that you can find and take on throughout the world that Merlin left behind. Every time you complete a trial, you make a little more progress. To check your progress, head over to the Challenges Many, then to the Exploration area.

Your first Challenge will require you to complete two of Merlin’s Trials, which will increase your Gear Slots by 4. The next Challenge will require you to complete 6 of Merlin’s Trials and will reward you with even more Gear Slots. If you check out the Challenges menu, you’ll find that there are a total of 5 challenges you can complete that require you to finish Merlin Trials. This means you can ideally increase your Gear Slots by 20 overall throughout the game.

Hogwarts Legacy: Where to Find Merlin Trials

Whenever you head out into the open world and begin to explore, you can find Merlin Trials all over the place. However, you can’t take them on until you’ve completed the “Trials of Merlin” quest, which will be available once you’ve finished the “The Girl from Uagadou” quest, which will allow you to solve your very first Merlin Trial.

Keep in mind that you will need to have Mallowseet Leaves in your inventory in order to complete Merlin Trials.

Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
