Getting Moths in Graveyard Keeper is actually a really easy task. But for some reason, like saving your progress, the game does not explain this part of material gathering really well. You will need moths to catch specific kinds of fish and create more materials using Alchemy. If you just can’t locate one single Moth, then continue reading this Graveyard Keeper guide below for some help.

To be able to catch Moths in Graveyard Keeper, the very first thing you need is to unlock “Insects” under the “Nature” tech tree. Doing so will unlock the Gathering skill for three different insects: Bee, Butterfly, and Moth. You have to unlock Beekeeping to open Insects and then spend 20 Green Tech Points and 5 Blue Tech Points to access the skill.

Once you have the Insects skill, you should be able to get Moths when foraging any kind of flowers in Graveyard Keeper. However, you can only get Moths when picking flowers during nighttime. During the day, you will get Butterflies instead. According to the community, it is best to forage white flowers for the insect. Whether an intended mechanics or not, it seems you can obtain Moths much easier from white flowers.

In case you are having trouble collecting Moths, GlassDeviant on the Steam Forums also has another tip. They wrote that insects or bugs seem to spawn more often closer to the Quarry. So you can try following the path from the graveyard, past the sawmill, and all the way to the Quarry. Pick every flower you see while you’re at it. Doing it from the reverse direction should also work.

In Alchemy, you can create two Chaos Solutions with one Moth using the Hand Mixer. You can also craft a Chaos Extract using a Moth with the Distillation Cube. If you have unlocked the Master of Alchemy skill, you can produce one additional Reagent at any Workstation. When Fishing, Moths can also be used as a Bait to fish:

  • Carp
  • Frog
  • Perch
  • Sturgeon
  • Tilapia
