Below, you will find all the information you need on how to get potions in Halls of Torment. Potions are an integral part of most games, as these consumables allow players to gain certain buffs and stats. Halls of Torment also has potions, so let’s break down exactly how they work and how you can start making effective use of them.
How to Unlock Potions in Halls of Torment
Firstly, to get the potions, you will need to unlock access to them. Cupbearer will help you with this. As with the Wellkeeper, you will need to rescue him. To do this, you will need to complete the mission ‘The Cupbearer’ by going to the Viaduct after the third chapter. There you will find him, and as a thank you, he will allow you to use and create potions. The first potion that will be immediately available to you is Strong Wine. The rest of them will be unlocked as you collect the necessary herbs. You can see how to do this below.
How to Use Potions
There are 4 potions in Halls of Torment, each of which will give you unique features. Unlike most other games, in Halls of Torment, you can’t restore your HP or increase your defense with them. In this case, you will be able to manipulate your character’s traits to create an invincible warrior. Below you can see the name and description of each of these potions.
- Strong Wine – It allows you to reroll selected traits after leveling up.
- Reverberant Tinkture – When you level up, you can use this potion to apply the effects of a trait twice.
- Potion of Oblivion – When you level up, use this potion to remove the trait and all its follow-up traits of your choice.
- Potion of Memories – You can use this potion to get the trait of your choice next time when you level up.
As you can see, it’s really useful if you use them correctly. So now that we know what each of these potions is good for, let’s talk about how to get it.
How to Get Potions
This process may take you a bit of time, as you will need to find herbs to unlock the potions. To find them, you will need to go through the levels where they are located. Below you can see a table with all the locations and the herbs that can be found there.

Don’t worry about finding all these herbs, as you won’t need to mindlessly search for them on a map. To do this, you will have a special item called Gatherer’s Charm. In the upper right corner of the screen, you will be able to notice it. It will be in the form of a silver skull.
If you enter a level, you will be able to see that Gatherer’s Charm has been activated, as evidenced by the green lines around it. Each of these lines will mark the location of a herb. Follow the direction of the line to find the desired resource. The closer you are to the herb, the brighter and larger the line around the Gatherer’s Charm will be. When you collect the herb, the line will disappear. If you complete a level and see that there are no green lines around the Gatherer’s Charm, it means that you have collected all the herbs that were available.
