Nihilego, without a doubt, is one of the strongest Ultra Beasts in the entire Pokemon series. It is a Rock and Poison-type Pokemon, so it is very effective against Ice, Bug, Fire, Fairy, Flying, and Grass-types. What’s more, Nihilego’s moveset makes it the best Poison-type Pokemon in the game.

But despite the great power, Nihilego looks like a cute, harmless jellyfish. The regular version has a white body with a blue rim. But we think that Shiny Nihilego looks much better, as it has a yellow color and a golden rim. And now is the best time to start hunting Shiny Nihilego in Pokemon Go.

How To Catch Shiny Nihilego

From June 16th to June 25th, Pokemon Go hosts The Solstice Horizons event, where you have a chance to face Nihilego 5-Star Raids. Therefore, you have quite a lot of time to find the Shiny version of this Ultra Beast. But be prepared that this will not be an easy task, as the chance of spawning Shiny Nihilego is 5%. In other words, 1 out of 20 Nihilego you encounter will be Shiny.

It’s also worth noting that there will be two days where you can significantly increase your chances of catching Shiny Nihilego during this event. And, of course, we’re talking about Raid Hour:

  • June 21st from 6pm to 7pm
  • June 28th from 6pm to 7pm

You can find a lot more 5-Star Raids in these hours. However, you will need to prepare for battle. So follow these steps to fight and catch Shiny Nihilego in Pokemon Go:

  • Always go on 5-Star Raids with a team of at least 4-5 trainers.
  • During the battle, you need to use Ground-type moves as they deal 256% damage to Nihilego. Therefore, we recommend you use Excadrill, Groudon, Rhyperior, Mega Swampert, or any other Ground-type Pokemon you have.
  • Also, Water, Steel, and Psychic-type Moves will deal increased damage to Shiny Nihilego.

That’s all you need to know about how to catch Shiny Nihilego in Pokemon Go. This Ultra Beast is one of the best Poison-type Pokemon, so follow our tips to defeat it in Raids and add it to your Shiny collection. In the meantime, take a look at our guide on how to get Sandygast.
