Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria brings many things for players who enjoy the survival-crafting genre. In true fashion, there are many materials to get that’ll let you explore new areas and gather better resources. While the game is quite generous at giving you some of the starting materials, a few others are challenging to get, and one of those is steel ingots. If you’re struggling to find your way through the Dwarven Halls, here’s a guide to show you how to get steel ingots in Lords of the Ring: Return to Moria.

Once you reach the second area of the game, which in our case was the Elven Quarter, you’ll notice certain statues and nodes require you to have stronger tools, which are made with steel. This will put players at an impasse for a while, but we’re here to remove that roadblock for you and help you progress.

How To Unlock the Steel Ingots Recipe

The easiest way to unlock new things in this game is by grabbing new materials; however, for steel ingots, it works a bit differently. Here’s the process you must follow:

  • Follow the Main Quest until you reach the shortcut to the mines.
  • You’ll find a wall you can’t mine.
  • This will unlock the “Ignite a Great Forge” objective.
  • This Forge is usually close to the wall you can’t mine.
  • Once you find the Forge, ignite it to unlock the recipe.

The process of reigniting the Great Forge isn’t long, but it can be dangerous if you’re not prepared. However, the rewards are fantastic. Steel ingots are a game changer, and they’ll carry you until you reach the next big area of the game.

Steel Ingot Crafting Recipe

The amazing thing about crafting steel ingots in Return to Moria is that you can do it with materials you might’ve gathered throughout your journey. Here’s what you need:

  • Iron Ore x3
  • Coal x3

The process to make one steel ingot takes 45 seconds, and you’ll need to watch out for the fuel inside the furnace; remember to bring as much coal as possible.

Before we wrap up the guide, here’s a quick summary of everything you must do to unlock and craft steel ingots:

  • Follow the main quest.
  • Reignite the Great Forge.
  • Unlock the Steel Ingot recipe.
  • Gather iron ore and coal.
  • Return to your furnace to craft steel ingots.
