The Chimera Core is a valuable item you gain in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. You can use the core to make a Tier Five Weapon mod, one of the best types of enhancements in the expansion. If you want a high-end weapon, you should keep hold of this one-of-a-kind item rather than trade it. The Chimera Core can be uncovered relatively early in a Phantom Liberty expansion story mission. You should be able to get one at the end of the second mission after defeating the boss.

The Chimera Core is your reward for defeating the Chimera boss in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. The Chimera is a mechanical enemy that crawls on multiple cybernetic legs and can summon droids to attack you.

You face the Chimera at the end of the Spider and the Fly quest in Phantom Liberty. The quest is the expansion’s second main mission and centers around protecting the president and escorting her from a dangerous location.

The Chimera is a tricky boss to maneuver and beat, though there are some pointers to defeating it.

  • Its weak spots are its joints and turrets.
  • Drones will be summoned after the Chimera reaches 70% health. The drones must be destroyed first to prevent the Chimera from regaining HP.
  • Chimera’s attacks go through concrete, making hiding behind objects useless. You must keep moving to avoid the machine’s laser.
  • Jump on top of the boss once it reaches 2% health to finish it.

Locate the Chimera Core nearby after destroying the Chimera. The core should spawn a couple of feet away from the busted robot.

You can trade the Chimera Core in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, but the item is more useful as a material to craft. You can potentially create a Tier Five Weapon mod with the core.

These are the possible weapons mods you can invent with the item:

  • Firecracker (Power Weapon Mod): A powerful weapon that shoots explosive rounds.
  • Severance (Melee Weapon Mod): After an enemy hits below 50% health, any strike to the head or limbs has a 20% chance to dismember. A headshot could literally knock an opponent’s head off and instantly kill them.
  • Wallpuncher (Tech Weapon Mod): The weapon can charge to 200% capacity without increasing its charge time. The Wallpuncher also has a 100% Armor penetration bonus.
  • Hackatomy (Smart Weapon Mod): This weapon has a 5% chance of applying a quickhack effect.
