Of all the early-game locations in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the Damascus Gate Prison is probably the scariest. Located in northwest Baghdad, this prison is big, filled to the brim with guards, and likely one of the first restricted areas players will come across in the game. On top of that, it’s also a story location. However, if you’re ambitious enough, there’s also a gear chest in the prison that’s just barely out of reach behind the prison doors.

In order to get the Damascus Gate Prison chest in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you need to do the following:

  • Find the chamber underneath the prison front steps
  • Defeat the guards near the chamber
  • Unbar the door to the gear chest chamber
  • Retrieve the gear chest

First, locate the Damascus Gate Prison chest either by using Enkidu to tag it on the map or by using Eagle Vision to highlight its location. When approaching the prison, it’s important to keep in mind that the entire area is restricted and any guards that catch sight of you will engage you. It’s possible to sneak around behind the guards posted on the front steps, but it’s easier to take them out as quietly as possible so they don’t fight you while you’re trying to get the chest.

The gear chest itself is inside a chamber behind the front steps of the Damascus Gate Prison. Facing the prison, the door to the chamber is on the right side, but it’s barred and there’s no key to be found.

In order to unbar the door and get to the gear chest, climb the wall in front of the prison, then jump down into the left side of the moat-like pit behind the steps. Take out the two guards standing there, then turn your attention to the metal grating at the end of the moat. You’ll notice that part of the grating is missing, leaving a small opening into the chest chamber across from the locked door. Use Eagle Vision to highlight the door lock in red, then throw a throwing knife through the opening in the grate to break the lock.

With the door to the Damascus Gate Prison chest now unbarred, jump out of the left side of the moat and cross the front steps to jump down into the right side. Open the door, then approach the golden chest inside the chamber and open it to get the Zanj Uprising Sword, which does 60 damage, 35 defense damage, and comes with the “Strike Back” perk, boosting your attacks by 50% after a perfect dodge. You can also get the sword’s corresponding upgrade schematic from the chest if you’ve already unlocked it elsewhere.

Congratulations, you’ve unlocked the Damascus Gate Prison Chest in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. For a more visual version of this guide, check out this video:
