How To Get the Flame Orb in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

A ball of fire

The Flame Orb is a Battle Item in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that causes its holder to receive burning damage at the end of every turn unless the holder is already burning. While such a passive effect might sound pointless and even somewhat self-detrimental in combat, this Battle Item has certain synergies with Pokémon Abilities that could give Trainers a competitive advantage.

For instance, pocket monsters like Hariyama and Ursaring have the Guts Ability, which bolsters their Attack IV by 50% whenever they possess a Status Effect. Since Flame Orb will ensure they are always being inflicted with burn, then the Guts Attack buff will remain as long as they have HP.

While the various Branches of Delibird Presents typically hold the same wares for each city, some of the stores possess exclusive deals only within a specific town. Likewise, the Flame Orb is a Battle Item that is only for sale at the Delibird Presents Branch in Levincia, the Paldean city known for Iono, the Electric-type Gym Leader.

Trainers can purchase the Flame Orb in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet from the Levincia Delibird Presents for 15,000 Pokedollars. However, this offering does not become available until players have reached the postgame. In other words, Trainers must beat every Gym Leader in Victory Road, defeat all the Titans of the Path of Legends, and beat Penny, the Boss of Team Star in Starfall Street. Once these three storylines have been fulfilled and the credits have rolled, the Levincia Delibird Presents Branch should have the Flame Orb available for sale.

Pocket monsters with the Guts Ability include Makuhita, Hariyama, Ursaring, Heracross, and Larvitar. Giving the Flame Orb to any of these Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet is bound to give one’s opponents a surprise in battle. Additionally, there are several pocket monsters with Guts as a Hidden Ability. These Pokemon include Shinx, Luxio, Luxray, Squawkabilly, and Flareon. If players would like to unlock the Hidden Ability for these monsters, they will need to acquire the Ability Patch, which is primarily acquired as a rare drop from 5 and 6-Star Tera Raids in the postgame.
