This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Many Star Wars Outlaws fans might be surprised to find that many zones in the game are locked behind a few requirements. Most require you to search for experts to get new tools or skills to overcome these obstacles. One of the most necessary tools in Star Wars Outlaws, and one you won’t see too early, is the Fusioncutter. This little space tool lets you cut certain structures to access hidden areas on most planets. So, if you want to know what you need to do to obtain it, here we have the full rundown.

Obtaining the Fusioncutter

While many skills and tools require Kay to follow optional expert quests and requests in Star Wars Outlaws, the Fusioncutter is locked behind the main story. To obtain it, you must head to Akiva and start doing the Droidsmith main quest. I’ve talked about the recommended order to visit the planets in the game, so if you’re unsure about whether going to Akiva is a good idea or not, you can check this guide. If you don’t care much about the story cohesion or recommended path, then follow these steps:

  1. Finish the first quests in Toshara until you can fly your Trailblazer to outer space.
  2. When given the option, travel to Akiva and start tracking the Droidsmith quest.
  3. Keep following the questline until you reach the Legacy quest.
  4. Finish this quest to unlock the ability to use the fusioncutter in open-world activities.

Contrary to other tools that involve a sort of mini-game, using the fusioncutter in Star Wars Outlaws is pretty straightforward. All you must do is find any closed gates marked with the modern yellow paint and interact with them; you’ll get the prompt to use the fusioncutter. Just wait for the animation to play out, and you can enter those hidden areas that were blocked before.
