Netease’s SCP-inspired survival crafting game offers various base defense missions such as Territory Purification and Prime Wars. Because of that, unlocking and carrying around defensive structures is crucial if you want to tackle those missions with friends. For a base defense enjoyer, being able to craft the powerful Gatling Cannon on the spot will be your main priority. However, you’ll need to gather quite a lot of resources in Once Human to craft both the Gatling Cannon and its ammo.
Once Human: How to Unlock the Gatling Cannon Structure
Unlocking the Close Defense Turret I node in the “Buildings” tab of the Memetics menu opens the Gatling Cannon build option. However, you’ll need to spend a hefty 7 Ciphers and 2,000 Energy Links and unlock the Auto Turrets I upgrade node first.
That’s not all, building a Gatling Cannon requires you to gather late-game materials as well:
- Iridium Crystal x10.
- Aluminum Ingot x30
- Special Part x30
- Barreled Premium Fuel x10
Do keep in mind that the Once Human Gatling Cannon is not an automated turret! A player has to mount the weapon system and shoot at the target for it to work. Later, you can upgrade it to Close Defense Turret II with 10 Ciphers and 5,000 Energy Links on the same Memetic tree.
Gatling Cannon ammo in Once Human is called Biomass Missile and crafted on a Synthesis Bench. It’s also unlocked from the Close Defense Turret I Memetic node. Crafting 1 Biomass Missile costs Steel Ingot x15, Stardust Source x20, and Barreled Premium Fuel x1.
As you gain more levels, you can open the Specializations slots to enhance your character’s abilities. Below are all three Specializations that directly upgrade the Gatling Cannon and its ammo in Once Human:
Specialization | Effect |
---|---|
Gatling Cannon: Power Blast | Deals +30% DMG and recovers all Durability when your Territory exits combat |
Biomass Missile: Ample Munition | -80% weight to Biomass Missile ammo and gain +2 crafting yield |
Silver Plasma Missiles | Adds new Gatling Cannon ammo in Once Human, much more expensive but bullets fly in a perfect straight trajectory and deal very high Blast DMG AOE (lasts 24 hours) |
While they’re pretty useless for day-to-day operations, these are essential upgrades if you often run Prime Wars.
