If you need proof that Stardew Valley is a deceptively deep farming sim, look no further than the Special Charm. This unique item will permanently boost your luck, making it desirable no matter what kind of farm you’re trying to run. Boosting your success when mining and doing other RNG activities is a big deal, but getting the Special Charm is a little tricky. Not only will you require a couple of items beforehand, but you’ll also need to follow mysterious instructions perfectly. Here’s how to get the Special Charm in Stardew Valley.

Before you can get the Special Charm in Stardew Valley, you’ll need two items: a Rabbit’s Foot and Secret Note #20. You can buy a Rabbit’s Foot from the Traveling Cart, get it as a random drop from Serpents in the Skull Cavern, or get it as a random drop from your rabbits. The process to get Secret Note #20 is a little more complicated. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Trigger the “Shadow Guy” cutscene by walking from the Farm to the Bus Stop between 6am and 4pm in the Winter
  • Complete “A Winter Mystery” and get the Magnifying Glass
  • Find Secret Note #20 as an RNG drop while digging, fishing, mining, chopping trees, or slaying monsters

Once you have a Rabbit’s Foot and Secret Note #20, you’re ready to get the Special Charm. To start, select the note in your inventory and right-click on it to read it. The note depicts a strange red circle as well as some directional arrows. The red circle can be found in the center of Pelican Town (pictured above), so go there and stand in the center of it to begin your search.

Once you’re standing in the center of the circle, you need to follow the directions on the note. They’re read left to right, dropping down at the end of each row. You need to walk in whatever direction the arrow points you until you run into a solid object, then repeat the process with the next arrow, continuing until the end. Following the last arrow will lead you to the car parked outside JojaMart / the Movie Theater. Give the driver a Rabbit’s Foot to get the Special Charm, permanently increasing your Daily Luck by 0.025. That will make getting valuable loot and resources much easier.
