With the full release of V Rising, the vampire action RPG flies onto the scene with improved graphics, combat, and more. There are plenty of changes, but those who enjoyed early access will breathe a sigh of relief knowing one thing that didn’t change: Charged Batteries. For newcomers, know that you can’t find these just lying around. It all starts with Depleted Batteries. But once you have a Charged Battery in V Rising, you’re one step closer to the endgame use of a Power Core.
Where to Find a Depleted Battery
(Updated May 19, 2024 – Cleared up instructions on how to get a battery and added information about specific machines/location for depleted batteries)
You can loot Depleted Batteries from Machines and Tech Scrap Piles. When it comes to Machines, these enemies are ideal to focus on:
- Gattlers
- Lightning Protectors
- Zappers
- Drillers
Gloomrot North is one of the best places you can encounter these enemies. It’s also a tough place. Although you can now adapt the difficulty to suit your playstyle, you still want to approach this region well-prepared. But if you don’t want a fight (and if you have the currency for it), you can also receive a Depleted from the Treasure Hunter Trade Post. A Depleted costs 20 Goldsun Coins.
Now, with a Depleted Battery, you’re one step closer to scoring a V Rising Charged Battery. We only need to head to the right place to juice them up.
How to Get a Charged Battery in V Rising
Scoring a Charged Battery in V Rising isn’t as difficult as it may seem. All you need is a Lightning Harvester. These are scattered around close to points of interest. But if you want some easy ones, you can just stick to Gloomrot North for Thunderstrike Peak. Since we have to gather Depleted Batteries to use them around the area, you’re better off not traveling by foot. Otherwise, this process can take longer than it needs to be. The better your mount, the faster you can wrap this all up.
All that’s left is for you to approach a Lightning Harvester and interact with it by selecting the “Charged Battery” icon. It only takes a few seconds, and you don’t have to stay on it as it works. So, you can handle other things like killing more Machines while you wait. Additionally, you can charge up to 10 Depleted Batteries at a time. It’s best to gather as many of these as possible before you hunt down Lightning Harvesters.
Alternatively, you can head back to the Treasure Hunter Trade Post and purchase a Charged Battery for 40 Goldsun Coins. Of course, you don’t get the fun of dodging random lightning strikes when you go that route, do you?
Using a Charged Battery
With a Charged Battery, you can soon enjoy a Power Core, but that’s not until you’re in V Rising‘s endgame. Power Cores are handy for crafting Jewelry to improve your spells, but their most vital use is to craft Onyx Tears. With Onyx Tears, you can make the highest-rated weapons, just in time to defeat the toughest enemies.
You can make a Power Core in V Rising at the Fabricator using multiple Charged Batteries and Radium Alloy. This should give you 2 Power Cores at a time. So, the more Charged Batteries you have, the more Cores you can create. Remember: before you can enjoy a Charged Battery, you need Depleted Batteries. Since these fall from strong Machine enemies or are looted in Tech Piles, proper gear is a must.
V Rising is available on PC and TBA on PS5.
