Lords of the Fallen, like other Soulslike releases, has checkpoints. Here, they are called Vestiges. These are built monuments to previous Lampbearers. However, while other games offer multiple checkpoints within a single area, Lords of the Fallen provides one Vestige per area. Nevertheless, Lords of the Fallen introduces the ability to create your own Vestiges by using Vestige Seeds and planting them in Umbral’s flowerbeds. Vestige Seeds serve as precious items that let you create temporary waypoints. However, these are rare and not easy to obtain, but we will help you get all the possible Vestige Seeds you can.

Lords of the Fallen: Where to Find Vestige Seeds

The first Vestige Seed in the game is given to you by the Iron Wayfarer when you reach the Skyrest Bridge. After the cutscene, you will need to use it on an Umbral Flowerbed in the proximity.

There are two main ways to get Vestige Seeds in Lords of the Fallen:

  1. Buy Vestige Seeds from Molhu: Molhu is a merchant found in the Skyrest hub. To get to him, head left from the Skyrest Vestige Point. Then, climb the stairs and use the Umbral Lamp to find Molhu. As you traverse to the Umbral realm, Molhu will become fully discoverable. Interact with Molhu and select Purchase. Each Vestige Seeds will set you back 2,500 Vigor. You can only carry five Vestige Seeds at a time.
  2. Defeat Enemies: Bosses in Lords of the Fallen drop Vestige Seeds. You will get one Vestige Seed for every main boss beaten, while you will also get Vestige Seeds from Sinner bosses, which can be categorized as mini-bosses or elites. These can serve as introductory bosses to major boss fights.

How To Plant Vestige Seeds

Planting Vestige Seeds and creating Vestige Seedlings in Lords of the Fallen is straightforward. You can’t plant them anywhere you like but at specific spots called Umbral Flowerbeds.

You can recognize these spots in two main ways:

  1. By Watching for Special Blue Color: when you are near an Umbral Flowerbed, you will notice a special blue color emitted around the lamp icon. This is a reliable method for locating these spots.
  2. By Identifying Unique Moths and White Flowers: Umbral Flowerbeds are also identifiable by the presence of unique moths circling around them and the appearance of white flowers and veins on the ground.

Once you are close to an Umbral Flowerbed, here’s how to use your Umbral Lamp to interact with it:

  • For console players, hold your lamp with R2 or LT, and then press and hold Triangle or Y, depending on your platform.
  • For PC players, switch to your lamp and hold Ctrl and F to grow a Vestige Seedling.

Unfortunately, a new Vestige Seedling cancels the previous one.

Here is a brief summary of what you need to do to get Vestige Seeds in Lords of the Fallen and create your own checkpoints:

  1. Vestige Seeds: Vestige Seeds are valuable items in Lords of the Fallen that allow you to create temporary waypoints for convenience during your journey.
  2. How to Get Vestige Seeds: Obtain Vestige Seeds by defeating enemies, including bosses, and purchasing them from Molhu, a merchant in the Skyrest hub.
  3. Vestige Seedlings: Vestige Seedlings are the waypoints created using Vestige Seeds, serving as checkpoints for your exploration.
  4. Growing Vestige Seedlings: To grow Vestige Seedlings, find Umbral Flowerbeds in the game. Recognize them by special visual cues, like a blue color near the lamp icon or unique moths circling white flowers and veins on the ground.
  5. Planting Vestige Seedlings: When near an Umbral Flowerbed, use your Umbral Lamp to interact with it. For console players, hold the lamp button and press the designated button. For PC players, switch to the lamp and use the appropriate key combination to grow a Vestige Seedling.

Lords of the Fallen is available on PC, Playstation, and Xbox.
