Unlocking the Young Kratos skin in God of War Ragnarok is straightforward, but it’s not exactly easy. You’ll need to beat the Valhalla DLC to do it, which is a considerable undertaking. Once you’ve done so, however, you’ll unlock several excellent rewards, including the ability to rock Kratos’s classic look from the original trilogy, with or without the original armor. Whether you’re sick of the older, full-beared Kratos or just want a dose of nostalgia, this classic cosmetic is sure to deliver in Valhalla and the base game alike. Here’s how to get Young Kratos in God of War Ragnarok.
Unlocking Young Kratos Skin in God of War
To get Young Kratos in God of War Ragnarok, you need to beat the Valhalla DLC. Fortunately, hitting 100% completion isn’t a requirement. All you need to do is complete the main story and reach the end credits. That’s not exactly a quick process, since it will take most players 4-6 hours to clear the DLC’s story, but at least it’s a reward for something you’d be doing anyway. Here are the specific steps you’ll need to follow to get Young Kratos:
- Complete Valhalla
- Speak with Freya and Sigrún
- Speak with Gunnr to receive new armor
- Visit the Appearance Pedestal
- Press “R3” to swap between default and Young Kratos
To complete the look, you’ll want to wear the following armor pieces as well: Glory of Sparta (chest), Pride of Sparta (wrist), and Mark of Sparta (waist). The differences between default and Young Kratos are purely cosmetic, so use whichever you’d like. Once you’ve unlocked the skin you’ll be able to use him in Valhalla as well as God of War Ragnarok NG+. That’s right, you can even use this cosmetic in the original game. It doesn’t exactly make sense in terms of canon, but when you can look this cool while vanquishing your enemies, who cares?
