If you’re looking for some haunting foliage to pair with your pumpkins in Minecraft, the pale oak tree is what you need. Never mind that Creaking Hearts might invite more trouble than good. A pretty plant’s a pretty plant, even if there’s a hostile Creaking about. Growing pale oaks might seem like a good way to circumvent the Pale Garden, too, but it’s not without its pitfalls. Unlike the wild version, the pale oak trees you grow won’t produce Creaking Hearts. That reward requires risk. Here’s how to grow a pale oak tree in Minecraft.
Minecraft Pale Oak Guide
Growing healthy trees in Minecraft often isn’t easy, even when the flora isn’t supernatural. Steve and his friends have pioneered many ways to get your greens growing, however. Though native pale oaks produce a haunting artifact worthy of the Pale Gardens themselves, you don’t have to worry about any of that when planting your own. The most dangerous part of the process is collecting the saplings. Here’s what you need to do to grow a pale oak:
- Use a hoe to dig a 2×2 dirt patch
- Plant 4 pale oak tree saplings
- Wait for time to pass and the saplings to grow
- Alternatively, use Bone Meal to grow a pale oak instantly
If you don’t already have some pale oak saplings, you can harvest some from the Pale Gardens. Beware, however, as this Overworld biome is home to deadly Creakings. They don’t move when you’re looking at them, so you’ll find safety in a steady gaze. That can make harvesting pale oak saplings difficult, however. On the plus side, you only have to worry about normal mob spawns at night. If possible, bring a friend to keep an eye on the Creakings for you. Safe gardeners garden in pairs.
