Sometimes you have to take big gambles to get big rewards, and using the hit stick in Madden 23 is a great example. It’s not always easy to stop the fast and ferocious enemy attacks when defending on the back foot. The hit stick helps stop the opponent players in their tracks and balance the momentum in your favor. Although risky, a huge tackle is all you need to turn the tables and catch the enemy on a counter in a game.
Using the hit stick is also very effective when you are about to lose the game and need a quick tackle to start a fast attack in a last-ditch effort. Since this feature has so many uses, let’s see how you can use it in the game.
How to Hit Stick in Madden 23
While risky, using the hit stick is not very challenging in the game. You can trigger the feature by pressing the right stick of your controller in either the up or down direction. Timing it wrong is the major problem when using such an out and out tackle. You need to press the right stick after being close enough to the ball carrier in the game. Mistiming the tackle will invite more pressure and can be fatal to your team.
Different Uses of Hit Stick
There are a couple of ways you can use the hit stick in the game. The up and down movements of the right stick conclude different results on the pitch.
Moving the right stick in the upward direction will perform a high tackle. This will focus the tackle on the attacker’s upper body. It’s a very aggressive tackle that completely stops the attacker’s momentum and gets possession of the ball. It’s best to perform this tackle from the opposite or side directions. This will make sure your defender can stop the momentum immediately without carrying it forward to the line. If the attacker is weak, they might fumble and give away the ball to your team. It can open an enormous opportunity to shift the play if performed correctly.
Moving the right stick in the downward direction will perform a low tackle. It is most effective against big attackers who are tough to bring down by pushing the upper body. If you have a small defender, the low tackle will easily shift the center of gravity of tall attackers, forcing them to go to the ground or become imbalanced. This can stop the attack but may not always give you possession of the ball.
This concludes the guide to using the hit stick in Madden 23.
