- Weapons – Use crossbows but only as a last resort
- Fire: Set them on fire by throwing Tar Jars and Tar Pots. You can also push them into the fire

All these attacks depend on whether or not you can remove or at least disable the armor and get to the soldier. Here are a few tactics to consider: For fully armored mace soldiers, get behind them and remove the lock that holds the armor in one place. As for shield soldiers, shoot at the lock on their chest. Try to burn them using tar, as this will stun them, thus making them open to being shot at. If you can get their lock off, they will die from fire burns.
