Before you start trying to smack trees for XP, there’s something you should always do first. Explore the Island and look for the little crates and chests. You can typically find them located next to brick or stone structures. These little boxes contain Explorer Notes, giving you an increased percentage of XP gain for 600 seconds. That said, Explorer Notes are extremely valuable, so whenever you get one, you shouldn’t waste it. When you open a note, the effects begin immediately, so there is no time to spare.
After you’ve unlocked an Explorer Note, move fast and perform easy things that will get you an exponentially higher amount of experience. For instance, a personal favorite of mine is to craft arrows. By that, I mean hundreds of arrows — as many arrows as you can craft in a 600-second timespan. Another method that works quite well and is rather rewarding is to harvest berries and fiber. It’s simple and fast, requiring one button and the occasional movement to another bush, and nets you valuable resources and loads of experience points.
By the end of your 600 seconds, you should have earned loads of XP and at least a few new levels. Each level up in Ark: Survival Ascended can be used to put points into attributes, as well as unlock new crafting recipes by spending Engram Points.
