Grinding XP and leveling up fast is pretty important in Helldivers 2, as you can unlock more and better Stratagems at higher levels. This will be crucial as better support from your Super Destroyer could mean life or death at higher difficulty levels. Nevertheless, getting to Level 20 to be able to unlock all available Stratagems seems to take quite a lot of time. There is a way to grind XP quickly in this game though, and the method is much easier than you think.

Playing Bug Elimination Operation on Trivial difficulty is the best and fastest way to level up in Helldivers 2. This Operation will task you to find and defeat the Terminid miniboss called Brood Commander. Destroy Automatons Operation on Trivial can work as well, but we find fighting the Terminid Brood Commanders much easier than Automaton Devastators.

All you have to do to level up fast in Helldivers 2 is to bring a Machine Gun Stratagem and keep your distance. Dumping half a Machine Gun mag on any part of the Brood Commander should kill it and complete the mission. On the other hand, you’ll have to dodge both projectiles and melee when facing the Automaton army. Not to mention that Devastators are heavily armored and you have to aim at its head or use explosives to quickly deal massive damage.

In case you cannot find the Operation, there is a way to reset missions. Pick a random Operation and drop into the planet. Once you touchdown, press Start or Escape to open the menu, then pick Return to Ship Alone or Abandon Mission With Squad. Returning to your Super Destroyer ship should reset all Operations on the War Table. This will help you grind XP and level up fast in Helldivers 2.

Farming Trivial becomes the fastest way to level up in Helldivers 2 because you’ll always get 100 XP for completing an Operation no matter the difficulty. If you’re not sure, let’s do some quick math here.

Say that we finish a solo run of Bug Elimination Operation on Trivial in 5 minutes or less. You’ll get around 200 XP; 100 from the main objective and the rest from the number of players extracted and how long it took. Meanwhile, you and your Helldivers 2 team want to level up fast and decided to run a Fuel Silos and Stockpiled Ammunition on Medium. Completing all the side objectives could take you 15 to 20, or even 30 minutes if you’re having a bad day. But your squad is only rewarded with around 350 XP.

Thus, on paper, playing Trivial Bug Elimination should let you level up fast in Helldivers 2 as it gives you 2,400 XP per hour! On the contrary, you and your team will only acquire 1,400 XP for a 15-minute Medium run at best.

Helldivers 2 is available on PlayStation 5 and PC.
