In a space RPG like Starfield, it’s no surprise players replicate other beloved ship design builds like the Normandy from Mass Effect. There’s plenty to compare between these games. However, you can blend them by adding your own Normandy to the mix. In fact, you can even use the character creator to replicate your Commander Shepard if you’d like. The possibilities for ship construction are limited to time, creativity, resources, and money. We’ll show you an example of the Normandy in Starfield to help you recreate the beautiful spacecraft.
Make the Normandy in Starfield – Resource Guide
There is plenty you can do when it comes to Starfield ship designs. You may spend as many hours on ship design as you did on the character creation screen. But what about replicating a famous fictional spacecraft? Is it possible to bring Mass Effect to Starfield?
Well, Shepard fans can rejoice to learn that you can make the SSV Normandy in Starfield. The first thing you need, however, is a ship. So, you won’t be able to tackle this project until you are a bit further into the game to unlock access to your own spacecraft and the ship-building feature.
From there, you want to customize your spacecraft to build the Normandy in Starfield. Reddit user neok182 posted information about their Normandy build on the Starfield boards. Check out the recommended components for your Normandy spacecraft build below:
- 100CM Ballast Shielded Cargo Hold
- 120LD Landing Bay

Starfield Normandy Build – Tips
You’ll need quite a bit of credits to customize any ship in Starfield. So, do what you can to make money. Selling items can be a lucrative business too.
Don’t forget to have fun with your Normandy ship design in Starfield concerning the color scheme. Mass Effect features three different SSV Normandy ships from the main three games. You can design the original, opt for the Cerberus-centric one, or aim for the classic Alliance color pattern in the third game.
Also, you may not recreate the interior. There are not as many tools for interior customization as there are for outside customization. The same is true for the exact look of the Normandy since the spacecraft features a more angular layout that’s currently impossible to recreate in Starfield. You may have to wait for mods to build a precise replica.
Starfield will release for PC and Xbox Series X|S on September 6.
