The Sims 4 lets you do several actions when it comes to objects. You can rotate them to face the proper way or size them up to be the perfect size. But you can only move them along a grid, putting everything on the ground. That’s not bad for regular play, but it limits your imagination because you can’t do much else. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could stack cabinets on top of fridges, or have nine TVs in a grid format?ย  When you can move objects freely, you can experience the game in another light. Here’s how to move objects freely in The Sims 4 and the steps it requires.

It’s not possible to move objects freely under normal circumstances. Most of what you see in the Sims 4 galleries is done without using cheats, but they’re constrained by movement limitations. If you want to move objects freely, in The Sims 4, you have two options: cheats and mods. You won’t have to install anything that could ruin your game or break your save file. But you will need some extra steps regardless of the method you choose. Using mods is safe, but make sure to create backups to avoid the worst-case scenario.

Using Cheats in The Sims 4 To Move Objects

Open the Cheats menu by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C on the keyboard. Type inย “testingcheatstrue” which allows cheats to work within your game. The cheat to move objects freely is “bb.moveobjects” which should activate when you press Enter. Test the cheat by trying to move a simple object freely. If you followed the steps, the object should move wherever you want.

If it doesn’t work, make sure that “testingcheatstrue” has been accepted by the Cheats menu and you typed the cheats in correctly. A misspelled word is enough to prevent the cheat from working.

Using Mods to Move Objects

There are mods you can install to freely move objects without having to type the cheats correctly. Some examples are the Better BuildBuy mod from TwistedLexi, but any mod with the same features will do. Follow the instructions to install it and it should work. If not, reread the instructions or look at any troubleshooting documents that reveal any conflicts.
