Treasures are tucked away in all corners of Hogwarts Legacy, with the Eye Chests being a particularly tricky trunk to open. These creepy crates don’t behave like a normal treasure chest, even those found within this same title, and require a very specific set of skills to open. Harry isn’t here to solve our problems, so it looks like it’s up to us.
How to Open Eye Chests in Hogwarts Legacy

If you have wandered around Hogwarts, you have probably seen some strange-looking chests with big eyes in the center. These chests are known as Eye Chests, and like almost everything in the Magical World, they can only be opened with magic.
The trick with Eye Chests is that the second they see a person, or in this case, your character approaching, they will lock themselves shut and there is no way to open them. So you have to sneak up on them to catch them unaware.
Hogwarts Legacy is a world filled with magic, and you can solve this problem with a spell called Disillusionment. By using this spell, you will become invisible for a short period of time, and then you can sneak up and open the chests with the eye.
While you would usually learn spells in classrooms, there are spells that you can only learn from adventuring around. This is also the case for the Disillusionment spell that you can learn during the Secrets of the Restricted Section quest.
There is no definitive time to say when you will unlock this quest. Since Hogwarts Legacy is an RPG, how to proceed with main and side quests and how long it takes you to complete them will determine when you will get the Disillusionment spell. Every Eye Chest in Hogwarts Legacy will reap the same reward, which is 500 gold galleons. Given there are so many scattered throughout Hogwarts and the surrounding areas, you’ll quickly earn lots of gold after opening a few.
