The Fortnitemares Escape Rooms, also referred to as the “Fortnite Nightmares Escape Room Event,” is a live activity that began on October 18 and will be available for all players until November 1, 2022. Despite its name, this event has little to do with puzzle-oriented escape rooms but instead tasks players with completing various objectives for exclusive rewards. For example, suppose participants catch 50 Fish, achieve 10 Eliminations, and reach the top 10 players of a match three times. In that case, they will receive a “Spoooooky” in-game cosmetic Emoticon as compensation for completing Room 1 of the event.

August 26, 2024 Update: The Nightmares Escape Room Event is no longer available in Fortnite.

After entering the post, players must log into their Epic Games account on the Fortnitemares Escape Rooms website, a page created exclusively for this live event. After logging in, the first set of tasks for Room 1 will become visible, and players can begin completing the objectives to earn their rewards. Note that all the tasks for a room must be completed before moving on to the next set. In other words, the free rewards are given in a linear manner, with the final cosmetic only becoming available once players have fulfilled every event quest.

Based on the information provided by Epic Games, the tasks for Fortnite Nightmares Escape Rooms can be completed in both Fortnite‘s Battle Royale mode and Zero Build playlists. Completion of all the rooms will grant players the following items:

  • Spoooooky Emoticon for completing Room 1
  • 20,000 XP for completing Room 2
  • OctoEye Spray for completing Room 3
  • Niterave Wrap for completing Room 4

Players must be patient to receive their Fortnitemares Escape Rooms rewards, as the delivery and quest completion can take up to an hour for the item to appear in one’s account. While waiting, fans are encouraged to complete the host of other activities currently available in the Battle Royale mode, such as the Fortnitemares Quests or the Weekly Challenges.

Fortnite is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
