How to Play as Venom in Spider-Man 2

We are VENOM!

Venom has long been a mainstay in pop culture ever since he first made his comic appearance. To this day, he is the best version of the “good hero except evil with evil versions of his powers”. Spider-Man 2 features Venom, albeit with a new origin and motivations, but the same creepy tongue and penchant for violence. In a cool twist, the symbiote beast is playable, just not how you would expect. We will explain to you how we can all become Venom.

Let’s get right to the point: you can play as Venom, but he is only playable in one intense and exciting story mission. In the story mission called “Don’t Be Scared”, you will take control of Venom as it takes over Harry Osborn and rampages through Oscorp before ending with a climactic showdown with Kraven.

He does feature his own UI elements, abilities, and brutal Finisher attacks. the end of this mission ends with him battling Kraven and his hunters in Times Square. Soak up all the Venom action you can. Once this mission is over, you can’t play as Venom again, and you can’t replay the mission either.

It’s not all bad. Peter Parker gets his version of the Symbiote and gets to use powers similar to Venom, but they don’t have the ferocity and viciousness the big bad has. Hopefully, Insomniac Games will add a replay mission option in the near future or set up some challenge arena content so we can have fun playing as the Venom some more.

Spider-Man 2 is available now on PlayStation 5.
