Madden NFL 20 is only a few days away. The game has gone gold and will officially release on August 2, 2019, however, there is a way to play it now. Money. As with most things EA related if you want something you have to throw some money at it.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners can play the game now if they are subscribed to EA Access, with PC players able to do the same with an active Origin Access subscription. If you do have one of these subscriptions then what are you waiting for? Get Madden on the download now.
If you aren’t a subscriber and aren’t willing to be one, all hope is not lost. Just pre-order the $80 Madden 20 Superstar Edition, or the $100 Madden 20 Ultimate Superstar Edition and you can start playing the game from July, 30. What did I say? Just throw some money around.
I’m being a bit harsh on EA here, they aren’t the only company to monetize incentives and their subscribers do receive a 10% discount on all EA digital content, even if said digital content is usually more expensive than can be found elsewhere.
The Access and Origin method of early play does come with a caveat though. You can only actually play Madden for a period of 10 hours. Although, as the game’s out in less than a week that shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
Despite being an Englishman I am actually pretty excited to get my hands on this year’s Madden. I have followed the sport for years (I won’t tell you my allegiance, I don’t want to alienate any readers), I go to the London games every year and stay up until stupid o’clock to make sure I catch the Super Bowl.
I’ve not owned a Madden game since the ’18 version and I look forward to giving Madden 20 a try, especially with some of the changes that have been implemented this year.
One new addition is the Superstar players and their unlockable X-Factor abilities. The Superstars are a group of 50 elite players, including the likes of Odell Beckham Jr., Tom Brady, and Patrick Mahomes. Completing certain actions with these Superstars will unlock rewards. For example, complete a number of passes with Patrick Mahomes that are over 30 yards and his maximum pass distance will increase until throws an interception or is sacked.
Another big inclusion this year, that I’m quite excited for, is College football. Madden 20 doesn’t have all the teams available, but there is a selection to pick from, including Oklahoma, LSU, and Florida. It’s a nice addition.
Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming Madden 20, we’ll give you much more detail and impressions of it and the other new features it brings, once we’ve played it enough to review. Let’s go play some football.
