This might be the last time I say this like a broken record, but Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is right around the corner. However, this time it feels much closer than ever. Many Guardians might be running around like headless chickens, and I don’t blame them. There are a lot of things to do before landing on Kepler. But do not fret. I’ve prepared a checklist of sorts to help you with your preparations for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate. There might be more than 10 things to do, but these are the ones I consider the most important before bidding farewell to the game’s systems we’ve grown accustomed to over the years.
1. Clean Up Your Vault

The first thing you must do to prepare before firing upย Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, and one I hope is obvious for many, is cleaning up your vault. Any Destiny 2 player will tell you they don’t have a hoarding condition, but they do. Just take a look at anyone’s vault, and if it’s below 600, it’s a rare sight. With that in mind, clean it up. Check if all your weapons and armor are actually useful, and if not, start dismantling. You won’t need all the contents in your vault, so it is better to free up some space ahead of the expansion’s launch. Don’t worry, it will fill up again pretty quickly.
2. Unlock All Classes If You Haven’t

This is another thing that many might forget, yet it is one of the most important. Aside from the classes you can unlock by going to the Tower, there are a few others you can get by doing old and recent campaigns, such as Stasis, Strand, and Prismatic. If you don’t have all of them, unlock them ASAP. You’ll want to bring your Guardian with all subclasses because you never know what gear you’ll get.
3. Get All the Recent Exotics

You can say what you want about The Final Shape, although many praise it (which is rare in the community), but this expansion had some fantastic Exotics. Most have become some meta that many will still want to bring them all throughout Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, so if you want to prepare for the expansion, it’s time to collect all of them. Some are part of Xur’s weekly rotation, so start making a list of the ones you’re missing and get Exotic-hunting.
4. Farm Illegal Armor By Doing Last-Minute Dungeons

Before you run away from the word “illegal,” don’t worry, it isn’t a bad thing. The community has called it as such because the new armor archetypes will make stat distribution change entirely, making some old pieces worth it during the first days of the expansion. Armor pieces with intellect and mobility are some pieces you should look out for and keep in your vault before The Edge of Fate. Things will change down the line, but if you have armor that favors these stats, hold on to them.
5. Prepare Your Day-One Loadout

A lot of people (myself included) tend to forget that Destiny 2 has an excellent loadout system. You can create a build for each subclass and swap them on the fly. If you haven’t, it’s time to get started. First, find out the build you want to use. Check fragments, weapons, mods, etc. Once you have it, save it and don’t touch it until you launch the expansion. Doing so will make the first hours easier and will let you (hopefully) breeze through the first mission. Also, it is much easier than manually equipping everything after switching to a different subclass.
6. Get Your Drip Ready

This might not sound like the most life-threatening thing at the top of your preparation checklist for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, but it is. Players will be flung straight into the expansion’s first mission, and you’ll want to look good in the cutscenes. Having the wrong drip will lead to strange cutscenes and something you might regret in the future. Then again, if you want to look like a kaleidoscope at launch, I won’t judge.
7. Prepare Your Bounties To Level Up The Seasonal Artifact

We all know that a new artifact is coming, and if you want to level it up quickly, the best way is by preparing your bounties. Just before the expansion launches, grab as many as possible and start working on them. You can complete them once the server goes live and rack up those experience points. Just make sure you have enough Glimmer before going on a bounty spending spree.
8. Trade In Planetary Materials For Glimmer and Enhancement Cores

This is a bit of a follow-up to the previous entry, but if you want some Glimmer, the best thing to do is to exchange materials. We all know that many things will disappear with the new expansion, and some materials will become deprecated once The Edge of Fate goes live. So, if you have a few of them, why not exchange them? You’ll get currency for them and avoid carrying useless items around.
9. Make a Guardian of Each Class

People will always think that having one Guardian is enough, but that’s wrong. You already have the character slots, so go ahead and create your Titan, Hunter, and Warlock. Why? Well, there are many reasons. First, you can check which class will rock the new expansion and focus on it. Two, you can see the season pass rewards and decide who has the best drip. Three, all of them are fun to play, and you should really have them all. In all seriousness, having all three classes can help you a lot and maximize the value of some season pass rewards.
10. Turn Up All Your Audio Options

Last but not least, the final thing you must do to prepare for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is to turn up your volume settings. I know this sounds like the strangest piece of advice, but trust me, it is important. Often, players turn everything down to hear others on the microphone or to play a video in the background while they farm. If you go into the expansion like that, you won’t hear voices or music, making the first impressions pretty anticlimactic. So, take a few minutes of your day to restore your audio settings so you can properly enjoy your arrival at Kepler.
