A Prestige system or level reset to gain permanent buffs has been a staple of RPGs in the last decade. This mechanic is often essential if you want to tackle end-game content that is much harder than the standard missions. It also gives veteran players more reason to go back and continue playing after completing most of the game’s quests. Nexon’s The First Descendant also features a Prestige mechanic that opens up your character’s and weapon’s customization options.

Prestiging or resetting levels can be done to both your chosen Descendant and weapons once they reach max Level 40 using Crystallization Catalyst. For the Descendant, it’s Descendant Level; for weapons, it’s their Weapon Proficiency Level.

In The First Descendant, Prestige is called “Assign Module Socket Type.” The option can be found in Inventory > Descendant or Weapon Modules > Module Additional Settings > Assign Module Socket Type menu. Assigning a Socket Type symbol to a specific Module slot will halve the Module cost with the identical Type. But using a Module with a different Socket Type than the slot will cause it to eat twice the cost. While this system opens up your Module options and upgrades, you also have to think carefully about the slot Types.

In total, there are five distinct Socket Types you can assign to the 12 Module slots, as seen above. Once you have selected with slot you want to assign, press the “Apply Socket Type” button. The Type will be added to the slot and reset your Descendant or weapon’s level back to Level 1.

Crystallization Catalyst can be easily bought from the Shop with Caliber premium currency. However, there are a total of five methods to acquire it:

  • Purchased in the Premium Shop for 300 Caliber.
  • Crafted at Magister Anais costing 187,500 Gold and 7 hours and 30 minutes, using:
    • Murky Energy Residue x8.
    • Macromolecule Biogel x22.
    • Mixed Energy Residue x8.
    • Advanced Neural Circuit x18.
    • Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint x1.
  • Reach Mastery Rank 12.
  • Completing the “Intercept Battle: Hanged Man” quest from Descendant Instructor.
  • Completing the “Enhanced Void Training: A short respite” from Descendant Instructor by defeating 10 Colossi.

Considering how hard it is to get or farm them, we recommend you think long and hard about which weapon or Descendant to Prestige. It’s better to save the Catalyst for Ultimates since they’ll be more powerful than the standard ones.

The First Descendant is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
