Can You Recruit All Characters in One Playthrough?
According to the developers, you won’t need to play the game twice to unlock all characters. However, there are missable party members such as Nina and others. If you want to recruit everyone, we recommend saving before any battle stage to avoid any mistakes.
Is There Permadeath in Unicorn Overlord?
Another thing we felt was necessary to include in this recruitment guide for Unicorn Overlord was a short section regarding permadeath. Contrary to Fire Emblem or Tactics Ogre Reborn, there isn’t permadeath in the game. This is fantastic, as you won’t lose the characters you worked too hard to get in Unicorn Overlord. Still, that doesn’t mean the game makes things easy for you. Losing a character in combat can hinder a unit’s strength, so bring revival orbs to every fight.
Overall, we feel most of the recruitment requirements in Unicorn Overlord aren’t as difficult as other games of the genre but still require some work. However, the payoff is great. Having an eclectic group of soldiers that range from bipedal wolves to griffin riders is fantastic, so don’t be afraid of exploring Cornia to get as many characters as possible.
