In true tactical RPG fashion, Unicorn Overlord features a huge cast of characters that the players can recruit. Whether you like lupines, angels, and run-of-the-mill humans, this is an eclectic group of soldiers you won’t want to miss. However, don’t expect the game to make it easy. Having a recruitment guide for Unicorn Overlord will make finding those rare units much easier and allow you to increase your ranks in the bloody war for Cornia.

According to Vanillaware, the game’s developers, there are 60 recruitable characters in Unicorn Overlord. This means you’ll spend a lot of time searching far and wide for them and spend even more time trying to create the perfect units. Since it is a long list, this guide is still a work in progress, and we’ll update it as soon as we discover how to recruit more characters.

Can You Recruit All Characters in One Playthrough?

According to the developers, you won’t need to play the game twice to unlock all characters. However, there are missable party members such as Nina and others. If you want to recruit everyone, we recommend saving before any battle stage to avoid any mistakes.

Is There Permadeath in Unicorn Overlord?

Another thing we felt was necessary to include in this recruitment guide for Unicorn Overlord was a short section regarding permadeath. Contrary to Fire Emblem or Tactics Ogre Reborn, there isn’t permadeath in the game. This is fantastic, as you won’t lose the characters you worked too hard to get in Unicorn Overlord. Still, that doesn’t mean the game makes things easy for you. Losing a character in combat can hinder a unit’s strength, so bring revival orbs to every fight.

Is There Real-Time Combat in Unicorn Overlord? Answered

Overall, we feel most of the recruitment requirements in Unicorn Overlord aren’t as difficult as other games of the genre but still require some work. However, the payoff is great. Having an eclectic group of soldiers that range from bipedal wolves to griffin riders is fantastic, so don’t be afraid of exploring Cornia to get as many characters as possible.
