This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Fire Emblem Engage is the latest game of the franchise, and a lot of people love how it returns to its roots. While some are still praising Three Houses due to its story full of intrigue and different routes, Engage has some of the most…engaging combat so far. One of the things that make the game so fun is the huge roster of characters. You’ll be getting at least six characters per nation, which is great as all of them bring new abilities to your party. Right now, we’ll focus on one of Alcryst’s retainers. Lapis is one of the early sword-wielding units you’ll get, and today, we’ll tell you how to recruit her, the best class for her, and the best gifts for her in Fire Emblem Engage.

How to Recruit Lapis in Fire Emblem Engage

While there are some characters that require you to talk to them on the battlefield so they can join your team, for Lapis it is a lot easier. All you have to do is progress the story up to Chapter 7, and she’ll join your party automatically. She’ll start as a sword user, and she is the first one to have a weapon capable of inflicting the ‘Smash’ condition. This will be good for the fight of this chapter.

Best Class for Lapis

As we mentioned before, Lapis will join your team as a Sword Fighter. Promoting her in any of the available classes that use a sword is the best idea. Since she has a very good Speed and Defense growth, these are the two classes we recommend:

  • Sword General
    • Requires Sword proficiency and a Master Seal.
  • Swordmaster
    • Requires Sword proficiency and a Master Seal.

These classes are the best for her as they bump her stats and make her one of the best tanks in the game. As a General, she’ll be avoiding most attacks while negating most of the damage in later levels. This is right now the best class for Lapis in Fire Emblem Engage. As a Swordmaster, she’s able to dodge with ease while inflicting high amounts of damage.

If you’re looking to increase your support rank with her, it might take a while, as the best gifts won’t show up until Chapter 14. When the Gift Shop opens, you need to keep an eye out for these items:

  • Roasted Yam
  • Training Weights
  • Muscle Balm
  • Animal Treats
  • Sharp Chisel
  • Butterfly Net
  • White Clover
  • Utility Knife
  • Bear Carving
  • Field Guide

These are the best gifts for Lapis in Fire Emblem Engage, and you should prioritize buying them when you see them in the store. If you don’t see Lapis on the Somniel, go to your room and rest. This will change the characters that appear on the map.

Lapis is one of the best units in the game, as she is high on the tier list for all the things she brings. Her passive ability is great, and building her as a tank is the best thing you can do. So, now that you know how to recruit Lapis, her best class, and gifts, be sure to add her to your Fire Emblem Engage playthrough; you won’t regret it.
