How To Restore The Monorail in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

Take in the sights

Many veteran porters know that the only ways to transport cargo are either on foot or on a vehicle, or at least that was the case in the UCA. However, once you reach Australia, you’ll see there’s a new way to haul cargo around. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach introduces the monorail, which can help Sam carry materials, heavy cargo, vehicles, and even hop on it to traverse large distances faster, assuming you’ve restored it. Here, we’ll tell you how to fix it and use it once it’s up and running.

Restoring the monorail works exactly the same as restoring roads. First, you need to find the terminals along the broken-down monorail. You can identify them easily since they have a specific icon, which also appears on the map after you’ve brought a region into the network. Once you locate one, approach it to see the materials it will need.

For instance, the one in the above image asked me for 400 Chiral Crystals, 640 Resins, and 720 Special Alloys. If you’re unsure of where to get these materials, we have a guide that can help you here.

Once you collect all the necessary materials, approach the terminal to deposit them, and the monorail will be fixed. Remember, you need to complete all sections of a monorail before you can use it. Contrary to roads, you won’t be able to travel halfway on it.

How To Use the Monorail

To use the monorail, you must approach any facility or mine that is connected to the structure. If it is a facility, you’ll find the monorail option under the Facility Features menu. Once you select it, head to Use Monorail, and here you’ll be able to load up cargo, vehicles, and then select if Sam will travel on it or not. You can also pick the route. If you select a route that passes through other facilities, you can disembark at any of them.

It’s important to remember that you can’t skip the monorail trip, or at least that seems to be the case at the time of writing. If you try to skip it, you’ll end up jumping off, which will hurt Sam and make your cargo go on without you. So, be mindful of that. Other than that, this is a pretty useful feature, especially if you want to take a vehicle across spots on the map that don’t have a road yet.
