This might come as a surprise for many, but do you know that big whale called Gigantrite in Throne and Liberty? You can ride it. Beyond the epicness of riding a flying whale across this fantasy world, there is an event that occurs after a set amount of time in the game, and riding this creature is a great way to obtain a rare codex entry. However, since it travels across the map, there is only one specific spot where it is easy to hop on it and start gathering items.
Riding Gigantrite
So far, I’ve seen the Gigantrite event appear every three hours in Throne and Liberty. You’ll notice the event is live by the whale icon next to your mini-map on the top right corner of the screen. However, you need to be fast for it because the creature is always on the move.
The easiest way to get on top of Gigantrite is by heading to the Starlight Observatory, as you can see in the above image, and using the grappling hook to reach the top. Once you’re there, just wait for the whale to pass by and jump on it. There isn’t really a requirement to join the event other than unlocking gliding, which you do during the tutorial, so you should be good to go. Also, remember to keep track of the event from the corresponding menu so you don’t miss Gigantrite.
Initially, riding Gigantrite might not sound like the most rewarding experience, but doing so can earn you the Little Friend in the Sky codex entry in Throne and Liberty. Beyond the achievement-like unlock, you can also get the Snow White Cuttie Yeddy Amitoi by speaking to Yeddy at Kastleton. I recommend doing this event whenever it pops up because getting an Amitoi for free is something people won’t want to miss.
