When playing as a team in Fortnite, one of the worst things that can happen is when one member goes AFK status during a match. However, Fortnite has a ‘Sit Out’ feature to avoid this situation. When you need a quick tea break or are trying to change some game settings, this feature ensures it will not affect your squad by automatically excluding you from the matchmaking pool while preserving your spot in the lobby. Enabling this feature is very simple, so let’s check out how.
Enabling the ‘Sit Out’ Feature in Fortnite
You can allow the Sit Out feature by following the steps below.
- Launch Fortnite and navigate to the menu.
- Click on the Menu icon.
- Select your profile icon and open the Social Panel.
- Go to Participation and turn the status from Playing to Sit Out.
- You can re-enable the status to Playing when you need to join back in.
When you enable the Sit Out feature, your friends can see it, and they can play the next Fortnite match while you are waiting in the lobby. You can enable the feature during the game or while in the lobby searching for the next match.
If you enable the feature during a match, you will be allowed to Sit Out when you return to the lobby. However, you can still talk to them and stay connected. Also, Sit Out time counts as game time because you’re technically still in Fortnite.
Even though we’re not a fan of this feature, the main benefit of the Sit Out in Fortnite is that you can keep your spot in the lobby while your friends can play the game without any disturbances. This feature is also similar to the actual physical game. It allows you to get much-needed breaks without disturbing the other teammates.
