Inventory and storage management can oftentimes be time-consuming in Minecraft, as taking everything from a Chest can take several minutes, depending on how organized its contents are. Of course, unless you are speedrunning or in a situation that requires haste, there is no harm in taking time to transfer items from a Chest to one’s inventory. However, moving stacks of resources around can get tiresome relatively quickly, especially when relocating your home base, workstations, or other materials over a distance. As a result, many will wonder if there is an easier or faster way to take everything from a Chest in Minecraft.
Taking Everything from a Chest in Minecraft
If your inventory is mostly empty in Minecraft, you can break a Chest to have all its items fall to the ground, allowing you to take everything from the container in one swipe. Any items left will remain on the ground until you have sufficient room in your inventory to carry more.

The method above is a rudimentary means of instantly moving everything from a Minecraft storage container to your inventory, as it works on any block holding items or materials, such as a Dispenser. However, sources at Sportskeeda point out that this approach will become quite tedious when a Double Chest is involved, as your inventory will not be able to hold everything. Of course, you could place down another Chest and place everything inside before transferring what you are holding, but such a procedure will take a long time. Moreover, the Minecraft Wiki states that items despawn after a 5-minute duration, causing stress to those who have valuables and rarities lying out.
Luckily, YouTuber The Golden Justice has the perfect solution for moving items quickly from your Chests to your inventory and vice versa. If you pick up a stored item in Java, hover over a certain type of block or item, and then push Left Shift + Double-Click, all stacks of the object over which you were hovering the cursor will instantly move from the Chest to your inventory. While this will not take everything from the Chest in Minecraft, it is undoubtedly a much easier means of quickly moving stacks of items quickly and efficiently, even if the Chest’s contents are in disarray. To clarify, you need to hold an object, hover it over the stack you wish to move, and press Left Shift + Double-Click. According to viewer comments on a similar video made by YouTuber Stingray Productions, pressing Y on Xbox or Y for PlayStation should have the same effect, but those with altered inputs might have different requirements.
Minecraft is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One X|S, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
