Want to know how to tame a Wolf in Valheim? Traveling the world of Valheim, you will meet many dangerous animals, and you can only run away or kill them. But after playing for a while, you will want to automate the farming of many resources or lure dangerous creatures to your side, and the taming mechanic will help you with this. In addition to Boars, Chicken, and Lox, Wolf can become your faithful ally. To tame and breed them, you need a paddock, a lot of meat, and patience. And our guide is here to help you and tell you how to tame and breed a Wolf in Valheim.

Valheim: How to Tame a Wolf

As we said, to tame a Wolf in Valheim, you must feed them any meat and increase their trust level in you to 100%. To do this, you must lure them into a paddock and wait until they stop hunting you. You will also need to stock up on a lot of meat (Boar meat, Deer meat, Lox meat, Neck tail, Raw fish, or Sausages). Once the wolves have calmed down, you must throw meat into their paddock and stay nearby while they eat. Thanks to this, they will get used to you. Later, you can even breed them and farm wolves’ materials, but let’s talk about everything in order of priority.

Paddock for Wolves

While you can tame wolves in the wild, the chances of success are negligible. All wolves will try to kill you once you get close to them. In addition, you can not tame Wolves while these animals are in a state of rage, so you should build a paddock.

You can dig a pit and try to lure the wolves there. But the Wolves are not stupid and will try to get around the pit even if you are in it. So it is much more efficient to create a small stone fence with one door. After that, you only need to go to the mountains and find a couple of wolves. They will follow you and enter the paddock unsuspectingly. After that, exit the paddock and close the door.

Taming Wolves

After you have caught the Wolves, you should leave for a while so that they calm down. They will not eat your meat handouts while hunting you. After a few minutes, give the wolves plenty of meat. Each meat increases Wolf’s affection for you by 10%, so you need at least ten meat pieces to tame each Wolf.

It is worth noting that you must be nearby, and there should be no enemies around. Otherwise, the taming process will stop, and you must start over. But as soon as Wolf’s affection for you increases to 100%, it will remain your friend forever.

You can take the wolves with you on a trip or put them to guard your home. You can also breed them, and newborn wolves will automatically be tamed. Also, don’t have to worry about killing a few tamed or wild wolves in front of your pets. Tamed Wolves will not avenge you for their relatives, but they will also not help you or save you from attacks by other wolves. A wolf will never hurt another wolf, even if your life is in danger.

Breeding Wolves in Valheim

As you might have guessed, to breed Wolves, you need to feed two wolves with meat. At the same time, there should not be enemies and many other wolves nearby. It’s best to take only two wolves in paddocks and feed them. You will see a lot of hearts, like in Minecraft, while breeding animals, and a new wolf will appear after a couple of days.

Breeding 1/2-star Wolves in Valheim

Ordinary wolves are great if you want to use wolves as protectors or helpers. But to farm wolf materials, you should tame and breed 1/2-star Wolves. These creatures only spawn at night and are more dangerous than regular wolves. But the process of capture, taming, and breeding is identical.

The exception to the rule is that these wolves will disappear in the morning if you do not have time to start taming them. So, capture these wolves at the very beginning of the night. Next, give them time to calm down and start feeding them meat. If the taming process has begun and filled up to at least 10%, wolves will not disappear, and you can finish what you started. By the way, by breeding these wolves, their offspring will also be 1/2-stars Wolves. So you can create a very efficient resource farm.

Valheim is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
