While The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales can be enjoyed solo, some players might be glad to know that there’s actually a way to play it co-op. That’s right, Elliot and his trustworthy companion can journey together as a party of two players, with each one performing different actions on the field. So, if you want to bring a friend along for this action-adventure ride, here’s how to unlock co-op in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.

To unlock co-op in The Adventures of Elliot, you need to progress through the main story up to the point where you get Faie as your companion. If you want the exact moment and don’t mind spoilers, it is after the prologue (essentially the demo) and after the Princess stops talking to you. Once that happens, you’ll be able to let another player join your game by plugging in another controller.

Now, as to how to actually play co-op, the first player will control Elliot and use all of his combat skills, such as weapons and whatever Magicite they have equipped. The second player, on the other hand, will use Faie and all her skills. At first, you won’t have a lot, but once you unlock them, you’ll be able to activate them freely, which is a boon during combat, as some enemies will be weak against some of Faie’s abilities, such as Ignite.

Unfortunately, while it is certainly a helpful system and extremely fun, Faie is a bit limited in some ways. She can’t equip weapons or upgrade things, nor can she complete quests on her own. Faie will always stick around Elliot, meaning that the main player will dictate where to go, what quest to grab, and what enemies to engage. Still, since the combat is quite engaging and has a lot of experimentation tied to it, it is great to bring a friend for the ride.

Another final thing to remember is that there is no online co-op at the time of writing. If you want to do this, you’ll have to do it on the same platform. So, if you have someone at home who would like to play with you, take out that second controller and drag them into this adventure.
