If you thought characters in Unicorn Overlord stuck to their starting classes, wait until you unlock the class promotion feature. This mechanic allows players to improve their characters by assigning them a better version of their base class. For example, Alain, who starts as a Lord, can become a High Lord, thus getting better stats. However, it takes a while to unlock this feature, and you’ll have to do a lot of quests and earn renown as the rightful ruler of this war-torn land.

How To Promote Classes in Unicorn Overlord

Before you try to improve your army via class promotions in Unicorn Overlord, there are a few steps you must follow. It’ll take a while to unlock this system, so don’t worry too much about rushing the game. It is better to unlock as many characters as possible and then focus on improving each one. Here are the requirements to unlock this feature:

  • Reach Renown Rank B.
  • Head to any Fort you’ve liberated.
  • Use 25 to 50 Honors to promote a class.

The most important requirements are reaching renown rank B and farming Honors. The latter is important because the cost will vary depending on the class. Some classes just require 25 Honors, while some named characters require 50, making the cost quite hefty. Still, there are many ways to get honor in the game, so as long as you complete quests, deliveries, and optional battle stages, you should be good.

Is Promoting Classes Worth It?

Yes. Class promotions are crucial in Unicorn Overlord as they will not only provide your classes with better stats but also give them more AP and PP, which they require to perform more skills in combat. Furthermore, the more you advance in the story, the tougher enemies will get, so upgrading your classes is vital to keep your army afloat during the war.

We recommend promoting your advanced classes first, such as the ones for Alain and Scarlett. While you can promote other characters, it is better to stick with the rare and special ones and then focus on your basic ones. Since they get better bonuses and perform better in battle, you should strive to make them your unit leaders and helm the fight against the oppressors of Cornia.
