In Hogwarts Legacy, you can get by someone with your wits and words or with a good spell. When it comes to battles, it’s vital to have as many spells as possible up your sleeves (or your robes). Confringo is one such spell. It is not accessed right away, so you will have to make do early on with other spells. In the meantime, we will show you what you must do to unlock Confringo in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Unlock Confringo in Hogwarts Legacy
Confringo, also known as the Blasting Curse, is a popular dueling spell in the lore. In Hogwarts Legacy, it has excellent range, allowing you to strike at enemies without needing to be close. It leaves behind solid damage, which you can constantly improve through mastery.
Before we can master Confringo in Hogwarts Legacy, we have to unlock it. To reach the opportunity to unlock Confringo, complete the following first:
- Finish the 18th main quest, “Jackdaw’s Rest”
- Unlock the Map Chamber
- Finish your first broom flying lesson
With these things out of the way, you will unlock “The Room of Requirement” with Professor Weasley. Now, you are near the point of unlocking Confringo in Hogwarts Legacy.

We should now be able to do “In the Shadow of the Undercroft,” another main questline. Be sure you are also at Level 8.
In this quest, you must meet with Sebastian. He usually hangs out around the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, so head there and wait for him. He will soon show you a secret room that you have to explore. So, cast Revelio and examine the various loot around.
Once you have explored enough, speak with Sebastian again. It is through him that you will unlock Confringo in Hogwarts Legacy. Before you officially unlock it, get through the conversation with him, and you will soon see the spell pattern you have to follow. Once successful, you will unlock the Blasting Curse. You’ll notice it holds some similarities with Incendio.
All that is left to do now is enjoy it before you get to a real battle. Only go for the targets, however. There are four hanging lanterns that you have to hit with Confringo to complete the objective. Now you have a rather fun and strong spell to add to your ever-growing list of spells.
Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It releases for PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, 2023, and for Nintendo Switch on July 25, 2023.
