In order to learn the Hand-To-Hand combat and earn the Dryleaf martial arts weapon, there are a few steps that you must pass. This includes achieving Monk’s Missive and then defeating Dryleaf Dane in Elden Ring Shadow of The Erdtree.
Notice: You need to progress through the early stages of the Shadow of The Erdtree DLC and complete the first quest to reach the new areas. Once you’ve finished the task, you can access different regions of the map, including where you’d find the Monk’s Missive.
Where To Find Monk’s Missive
The Monk’s Missive is an item located on the High Road Cross in the Realm of Shadow, which might be quite challenging to get to. There are tons of enemies and a boss called the Twin Moon Knight that stand in your way.
Once you’ve got to the High Road Grace Site, look for the rare Monk’s Missive item on the ground. Reading the note you’ll find that a monk is waiting for your challenge, and you’ll earn just the thing you need to fight him; the “May The Best” Win gesture.
Where To Find Dryleaf Dane
After you’ve collected the Monk’s Missive in Elden Ring Shadow of The Erdtree, it’s time to find the monk himself and fight him. Head east towards a location called the Moorth Ruins. This is where you’ll find a man with an old hat and worn-out clothes. That’s the monk we’re looking for.
The name is Dryleaf, and to learn his martial arts in the Elden Ring Shadow of The Erdtree you need to oppose him. He leaves us with no other choice, so, just do a “May The Best Win” gesture right in front of him, and you’ll enter the boss fight sequence.
Now don’t get fooled by the man’s cloth and style, he’s so damn fast! Dryleaf attacks you in a way that’s like he doesn’t know what stamina even means. The best you can do to defeat this boss is to choose weapons with high mobility. Dodge his first moves, and start attacking once you find an opening.
Unlike his assaulting skills, Dryleaf Dane isn’t a good blocker as you can hit him so easily if he ever stops bombarding us for half a second. Once you humble the Kung Fu master of the Elden Ring Shadow of The Erdtree, the Dryleaf hand-to-hand martial arts are yours to earn.
Considering the fact that we’ve been playing the game with different weapons that drive so much force with each move, it’s so weird to see the Tarnished starting to kick the opponents that have heavy armor on. The Dryleaf martial arts isn’t nearly as effective as most weapons in the game, but it’s a fun addition to test out.
Elden Ring Shadow of The Erdtree is currently available to play on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
