How do you create a rod to use for fishing in Hello Kitty Island Adventure? The latest game in the Hello Kitty franchise has players create a cute little critter character to join Hello Kitty and her friends on an Island Adventure. You can do various activities on the island, including ziplining and swimming to the bottom of the ocean. Fishing doesn’t become available in Hello Kitty Island Adventure as soon as you land on the island. You need to unlock it by befriending one of Hello Kitty’s friends.
How To Make a Fishing Rod in Hello Kitty Island Adventure?
You gain the craft plans for a Fishing Rod by accepting the Keeping it Reel quest from Badtz-Maru. Badtz is the penguin hanging out on the docks with his own fishing store. He will only offer Keeping it Reel to you if you complete the Prank Preparation and reach friendship level 3 with Badtz.
You can obtain Prank Preparation early in Hello Kitty Island Adventure by talking to Badtz-Maru. He will give you the plans to make a Water Balloon, which is three Rubber pieces. Make him one and show it to complete the quest. Gifting Badtz Water Balloons will also raise his friendship level with you.
Once you’ve hit friendship level 3 with Badtz, talk to him at the docks to accept the Keeping it Reel quest. He will give you the plans for a Fishing Rod in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. The ingredients for the Fishing Rod are:
- 10 Sticks
- 3 Thread
- 1 Gizmo
Sticks and Threads can be found throughout the island. Sticks are one of the most common items in the jungle. Tuxedosam will reward you Thread if you give him gifts he loves, like Sand Dollar and Beignet with Pineapple Dip.

Chococat will reward you with a Gizmo if you gift him items he likes. His favorite things are ancient inventions like the Blank Book. You can craft a Fishing Rod on Chococat’s crafting table near his tent.
How to Use the Fishing Rod in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Badtz-Maru will show you how to fish after you craft your first Fishing Rod in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. The Fishing Rod can be accessed from the Tool Wheel.
Walk up to a body of water and summon the Fishing Rod to launch out the lure. Wait patiently until a Red Exclamation Mark flashes on the screen to indicate a fish has grabbed the lure. Tap the screen to begin the mini-game. A fishing bar will hover over your fishing lure with an arrow mark pointing down on it.
The middle section of the bar is green, and it is your job to keep the arrow pointing down on the green. The down arrow will move left and right depending on where the fish pulls. To stay on the green, press the left or right arrows on your screen to pull back the fish on the green.
You can upgrade your Fishin Rod by raising your friendship level with multiple characters on the island.
