Risk of Rain Returns encourages players to collect a number of artifacts that will provide certain buffs to their character. One of them is the Artifact of Sacrifice, which will allow you to permanently remove chests and instead get items by killing enemies. You will definitely like this change, so it will be useful to know how to unlock the Artifact of Sacrifice in Risk of Rain Returns. As with other artifacts, you have to fulfill certain conditions to get it.
Risk of Rain Returns: How to Get Artifact of Sacrifice
The first thing you should start with to gain an opportunity to unlock the Artifact of Sacrifice is to reach Magma Barracks, which is stage 4 in the core. It is here that you can find the Artifact of Sacrifice by fulfilling certain conditions. It’s not easy to guess what you need to do because the game doesn’t give any hints, but if you’ve played the previous parts of the franchise, you’ve probably seen similar puzzles.
Your main task will be to find and click on the 3 red buttons that look like targets located throughout the map. Two of them are not difficult to find, and they are in visible places, so just by exploring the level you can easily spot them. The third button is more tricky because you can only notice it if you carefully explore the entire level. Before we explain where to find each button, it’s worth noting that you’ll also encounter walls that block the button. To avoid this, you’ll need to choose a survivor whose weapon can pierce walls. Here’s who you can choose:
- Huntress – Cluster Bomb.
- Loader – M440 Conduit.
- Bandit – Dynamite.
Now that you are prepared and aware of what you need to do, you can start searching for the buttons.
First Button
Let’s start with the easiest button. It is located in the upper right part of the level, not reaching the edge. You’ll see a button on one of the vertical walls, so just approach it and shoot to activate it.
Second Button
The next button is located in the opposite direction, in the upper-left corner. Unlike the previous one, you will need to go to the very edge of the level. It’s not a long walk, just keep going steadily to the left, climbing up the ropes and avoiding the lava. Shoot the wall to activate it. The indicator of the hit will be that it will light up red, just like with the other buttons.
Third Button
The last and most difficult button, which we have already mentioned above. The thing is that to find it, you’ll need to fall into the gap between the walls and hit the button in midair. It is located not far from the second button, just move down and to the right until you see a relief from the walls in the form of a staircase with gaps between them. After 1 stair, you will need to fall into the abyss and hit the button in time. To simplify this task, you can use the photon jetpack to maneuver in the air or the Hopoo Feather to jump twice.
When all three buttons light up red, the puzzle is complete, and you can pick up the long-awaited Artifact of Sacrifice. To accomplish this, simply move to the western part of the map, where you will find the item on the altar.
