Similar to other major updates, the Chop Shop Winter DLC for GTA Online brought with it the Scrap Yard property, which players can unlock to participate in new content. While we initially didn’t think we’d get new heists, the Scrap Yard allows players to steal high-value vehicles to sell for parts. However, there are many steps players must follow, from scoping to preparing and finally stealing a car. Overall, we’re glad Rockstar hid some things from us because this update is bigger than we imagined.
All Salvage Yard Locations in GTA Online & How to Unlock Them
To unlock the Scrap Yard in GTA Online, you must head to the usual Maze Bank Foreclosure website and buy any of the five Scrap Yard properties. These businesses range from $1,620,000 to $2,690,000, meaning you’ll need to save a good amount of cash before getting them. However, unlike other businesses, you don’t need to finish an initial mission before purchasing it. Just head to the site, buy it, and wait for Yusuf’s call. If you’d like to see which are the five new properties, here’s a list of all of them with their prices:
Paleto Bay – $1,620,000.00
This is the cheapest one you can get and a great starting point if you don’t have enough money. Doing the Casino Heist or Cayo Perico should give you almost enough to buy the property, assuming you’re starting from zero. The downside of this one is that it’s quite far away from everything else.
Sandy Shores – $2,030,000.00
If you don’t mind being near Trevor and Ron, this one’s for you. It is still far away from the city and between this and the one in Paleto Bay, we choose the latter. It might be personal taste, but we prefer the forest over the desert.
Murrieta Heights – $2,420,000.00
Our personal favorite. The Scrap Yard in Murrieta Heights is the one we recommend you unlock in GTA Online now that the Chop Shop update is up. It is close to other important city landmarks and has good access to most commercial and residential properties. Besides, it has good access to highways, which you’ll need for certain missions.
Strawberry – $2,570,000.00
If you have a bit more money, the Scrap Yard in Strawberry might be the best of them all. It is the most centric one and has a nice location. You are in the city’s heart and can travel anywhere from there. We don’t see any downside, except for the entry cost.
La Puerta – $2,690,000.00
For being the most expensive one, we expected something better. It is close to the airport, but that’s it. The area might be fitting for those who want to roleplay as a Scrap Yard owner, but we prefer the one in Strawberry and Murrieta Heights. If you have the cash, we recommend you buy any of the previous two and invest in some upgrades.
Here, we bought the one in Murrieta Heights because it is the closest one to the Casino, many of the apartments, including the free ones, and a few of our properties; besides, the price isn’t too high. However, we recommend saving money for the one in Strawberry, as it is the most centric one. If you have no other option, go for the one in Paleto Bay, but remember it’ll take you a lot to travel to it. Regardless, all properties function exactly the same, and you only need to gather a good team to start robbing some expensive vehicles.
