Do you want to know how to unlock the Sorcerer in Halls of Torment, an indie roguelike Diablo-esque RPG? This game from the developer of Good Company offers seven different characters with unique playstyles in total. However, the only default character that is available from the beginning is the Swordsman. You have to unlock most of them first before you can start a run with them. Let’s explain.
Halls of Torment: How Can You Unlock the Sorcerer or Sorceress, Answered
The Sorcerer or Sorceress is one of the hidden locked characters in Halls of Torment. To unlock her, you have to kill 10,000 enemies in the Forgotten Viaduct level. Filled with dangerous enemies, the Forgotten Viaduct is the third level or Halls available in the game. The Sorceress is called as Queen of Thunder, as she can cast Chain Lightning attacks to decimate a single enemy or spread it among many.
As mentioned above, challenging the Forgotten Viaduct is not an easy task. To make unlocking Sorcerer in Halls of Torment much smoother, you will want to equip your character with the best gear from the get-go. If you have unlocked the Wellkeeper, you can do a couple of runs and save the best equipment item from those playthroughs. And then, you will want to get a lot of useful Blessings from the Shrine of Blessings. Focusing on DPS boosts like Attack Speed, Area/Projectile Size, Attack Range, and Damage is a good idea.
Once you have started a run, make sure to find Scrolls of Mastery as fast as you can to help you level up quickly. Because by acquiring a Scroll of Mastery, your character can gain an additional ability to clear out waves of enemies faster. Obviously, this is very useful to unlock Sorcerer in Halls of Torment, especially when you have to deal with many Elite enemies in a wave. Scrolls of Mastery can be found in all Halls. One in Haunted Caverns, and two in both Ember Ground and Forgotten Viaduct. Defeating Elite enemies can also yield the item occasionally. This should help you tackle and destroy 10,000 enemies in Forgotten Viaduct to unlock Sorcerer in Halls of Torment.
When playing as the Sorcerer in Halls of Torment, you will want to maximize her DPS and area-of-effect damage. Traits like Quick Hands, Collateral Damage, and Weapon Proficiency (Strength) are useful for that. Meanwhile, Swift Feet and Dedication (Nimble) can help you do crowd control thanks to the increased movement speed buff. For Blessing, DPS and Lightning Damage are the best choices for her.
