The Thunder Hammer is a primary weapon for the Zealot Preacher in Warhammer 40K: Darktide that enables Rejects to smash the skulls of their foes, even Heretics with the thickest armor. While the Eviscerator is helpful for taking down hordes of Poxwalkers and the occasional Elites, the Thunder Hammer specializes in dealing massive damage to single targets, particularly those well-armored and hard to stagger. If Zealots felt like their strikes were not effective enough against such enemies, the Thunder Hammer is the best choice for finishing off or crowd-controlling stronger opponents while other teammates offer their support fire.
Unlocking the Thunder Hammer in Warhammer 40K: Darktide
To unlock the Thunder Hammer in Warhammer 40K: Darktide, Rejects must level their Zealot Preacher to Level 25, which is the approximate milestone at which the weapon becomes available at the Armory Exchange. However, bear in mind that the hammer might not be in stock when Zealots reach Level 25, as weapons sometimes take a few refreshes before being added.

According to Pro Game Guides, some Zealot Preachers have experienced the bad end of the Armory Exchange’s RNG-based offerings, preventing them from receiving their Thunder Hammer even though they have attained the prerequisite level. Of course, it is unlikely this is the norm, but fans should bear in mind that checking the Armory frequently is essential if they hope to acquire a specific weapon. Typically, the offerings will rotate every two to three games. Nevertheless, players are encouraged to develop a habit of checking the weapon shop every time after finishing a mission. Even if the armament they are looking for is not available, other equipment or good deals might be available that they would have otherwise missed if they did not visit the store.
The Thunder Hammer can be used in a similar fashion to other hammers in Warhammer 40K: Darktide. A balanced combination of well-timed swings and smashes should be enough to take down most enemies. However, the main appeal of this hammer is its special attack that requires a brief charge of electricity before crushing an enemy. While it is fun to use this ability to wreak havoc on minor enemies for easy one-shot kills, players should preserve this move for tougher, armored foes they encounter on their journey.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
