Out of all the new things that arrived with FFXIV Dawntrail, one of the best was the inclusion of a dedicated facewear slot. Previously, players had to go to their fashion tab, look for the proper facewear, and equip it. Furthermore, certain accessories weren’t compatible with other headgear. Thankfully, Dawntrail makes the process of equipping glasses and other facewear much easier. All you must do to get these fashionable accessories is save a bit of MGP and start accessorizing.
Unlocking Facewear in FFXIV
As soon as you fire up FFXIV Dawntrail, you’ll notice you already have the new equipment slot for facewear. However, you must buy the accessories first before equipping them. To do so, there are two options:
- Purchasable at The Gold Saucer: If you head to Eorzea’s Gold Saucer, you can find the Gold Saucer Attendant who’s in charge of “Prize Claim” and select Prize Exchange III. If you scroll almost all the way down, you’ll see new items that begin with The Faces We Wear. These are the facewear accessories you can equip. The price goes from 30,000 MGP to 100,000 MGP, so save a bit of said currency if you want them all.
- Calamity Salvager: You can find Calamity Salvagers in any of the main cities. If you bought any of the previous facewear accessories, you can obtain a free copy from these NPCs. This is only for those who get any glasses or other accessories before Dawntrail.
Equipping Facewear
The process to equip facewear in FFXIV Dawntrail is extremely easy. Just open your character’s menu by pressing C, and you’ll notice the new equipment show below your feet armor slot. Clicking on it will open a new menu on your right, but only if you’ve bought a facewear accessory beforehand. Once inside, you can select the facewear you want to equip, scroll down to select the color, and drag it to the empty slot. Voilà! You’ve equipped your first facewear.
While these accessories do not provide any stat increases, they are great to have as they literally add another layer of customization to your character. Furthermore, you don’t have to go through many pesky menus to equip them. Everything happens at your character’s menu, so all you need is the right accessory to start showing off your new looks across Eorzea.
