From all the thrills No Man’s Sky (NMS) puts out, one of the most exciting factors is the freighter system. As a space RPG, the game provides ways to transform your ship cosmetically and efficiently. On the efficient side, there are several ways to find upgrades and modules for your freighter in NMS. So, our guide will clear up any confusion you may have. We’ll detail where to find blueprints and modules alongside how each upgrade works.

To get the most out of your freighter and fleet in NMS, upgrade the hyperdrive to make it as optimal as possible. Your ship begins with the built-in Freighter Hyperdrive, which you can’t dismantle. Following that, all of the upgrades require Salvaged Frigate Modules. You can research these upgrades via the Upgrade Control on the bridge.

Upgrade NameRange ExpansionEffectSalvaged Frigate Modules Needed
Warp Core Resonator+200 lyN/A4
Plasmatic Warp Injector+300 lyN/A2
Reality De-threader+800 lyN/A3

Chromatic Warp Shielding+50 lyTravel to Red, Yellow, and Green Systems8
Temporal Warp Computer+50 lyTravel to Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue Systems12

Alongside those blueprints, a couple of others don’t focus on expanding your range. But you still require Salvaged Frigate Modules for these NMS freighter upgrades:

When you want to boost other stats concerning your freighter in NMS, you must find upgrade modules. An easy way to track them down is to do some pirating. Take some time to attack freighters in orbit, and you’ll eventually collect what you need. Additionally, you can also search for derelict freighters to discover upgrade modules.

The table below breaks down each freighter upgrade module in NMS and how using it will impact your ship:
