As you further explore the different biomes surrounding the Smoldering City, you’ll come upon a variety of useful resources, materials, and oddities, such as Ancient Tablets. Their description reads that they are “valuable sources of knowledge, highly sought after by traders and the Queen herself,” which says little besides their potential to bring in large returns. Newcomers might think Against The Storm‘s Ancient Tablets are upgrade materials and stockpile them for future use, but this is not the case.

What Are Ancient Tablets For In Against The Storm?

Ancient Tablets in Against The Storm are not used for city upgrades or any sort of notable mechanic during your settlement’s development. Their only purpose is stated plainly in their description — you’re supposed to sell them to traders and merchants for Amber. Valuing at 8× Amber a slate, Ancient Tablets are quite lucrative valuables that can net you some rare materials or currency during your trading deals.

How To Get Ancient Tablets

The only way to get Ancient Tablets in Against The Storm is by completing objectives in discovered Dangerous and Forbidden Glades. For instance, in my case, I found a Totem of Denial near my camp, a Dangerous Glade Event that can affect the Hearth of my settlement.

I had two options: perform a ritual or burn it down. For the sake of this guide, I chose to indulge in my pyromania and torched the totem for two Ancient Tablets. Luckily, there was a Wandering Trader in a Glade nearby to whom I could sell the tablets. The deal net me some fine cloth, Amber, and some fuel for my Hearth.

To recap, avoid saving your Ancient Tablets and just sell them. While some players have discovered these rarities were used in orders and specific Glade events, the profit in Amber you’ll receive from selling them is far too valuable to pass up.
