How to Use the Boombox in Lethal Company

Join the Company; their Boombox tunes are “lethal!”

While jamming your heart and body out before getting devoured by eldritch horrors in Lethal Company isn’t a bad way to die, the Boombox does offer other uses than sick synthwave beats. Costing 60 Scrap to summon its retro-esque tunes in the ice-cream-truck equipment pod, the Boombox provides precisely what you’d expect — sci-fi disco music. Some company personnel might use it for memes, intentionally attract an Eyeless Dog, or throw down a jig when their comrades are being chewed alive by Forest Keepers. However, there is a practical way to use the Boombox in Lethal Company.

The Best Way to Use the Boombox in Lethal Company

(Updated on September 16, 2024 – updated boombox information and format)

We won’t lie; the bopping tunes of the Boombox in Lethal Company are hard not to jam to. However, instead of using it as a means to drown out your fears of the terrifying monsters lurking in the dark, the best way to use this tool is as a distraction for specific beasties before they drag you down. Here are some tips to make the most of these juicy jams:

  • The Boombox can distract the Hygrodere and Eyeless Dog
  • Eyeless Dogs track by sound, making the Boombox a great counter
  • Other sounds may still put your friends at risk, depending on their location

The slimy Hygrodere might not react to getting beat with a shovel, but its jiggly body doesn’t appreciate the vibrations of an active Boombox. In other words, if you or one of your friends is being pursued by this icky villain, simply place down a Boombox to invite it to undulate elsewhere — instead of atop your corpse. With a banging enough beat, you might just survive to scrap another day.
