Like most other games with resource management systems, being able to conveniently farm items from the comfort of your hub is always welcome. One such location in Dave the Diver is the Fish Farm, the first out of three ingredient producers you can unlock. Thanks to the Fish Farm, you don’t have to keep exploring all of Blue Hole’s biomes to gather the fish you need. But how can you open and utilize this feature? And what are the best fish to keep in the Farm’s limited spaces?

The Fish Farm is unlocked after you’ve finished “A Noisy Customer” quest, where Otto will ask you for Moray Eel Curry. The dish is made from Moray Eel x2 and Turmeric x1. He’ll be waiting for you behind the Sushi Bar and finally open the Fish Farm once satisfied. The Fish Farm has a total of nine slots for each Blue Hole biome. But at the beginning, you’re only given access to four slots.

Every time you catch a fish, you’ll have a chance of getting roes or eggs, and they’ll be automatically transported to the Farm. The best way to catch fish alive and gather roes for the Fish Farm is by using the Net Gun or Remote Drone and Tranquilizer. However, there are five fishes that cannot be bred in the Fish Farm. They are Bluespotted Stargazer, Spider Crab, Long Snouted Seahorses, Sally Lightfoot Crab, and Purple Sea Urchin.

Keeping at least two fish of the same type, or one pair of fish, in the Farm will make them reproduce. Nevertheless, do keep in mind that it seems having more than one pair of fish won’t net you more offspring. Each fish also needs a different time to reproduce so don’t expect all of them to breed in days. Bigger ones like Tunas, Marlins, Sailfishes, and Sharks will need longer breeding periods.

Lastly, make sure your Fish Farm tanks are not maxed to 100% density. Otherwise, your fish won’t have room to lay and hatch roes. Keeping higher-starred fish could consistently produce better offspring too, although RNG is still at play.

If you have excess just send them to the Sushi Bar HQ or Branch to be cooked. Or else, sell it for additional profit. For example, 3-star Cliones could be sold for 75 Gold each! Bear in mind to check the “Keep up to 2” option when sending fish from the Farm to the Bar or sold. Otherwise, you could end up discarding all of your hard-earned sea creatures.
